Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I look at a copy of the application to see what is required before I actually apply?
Yes.  To help in the preparation of your application, it is suggested that you print off the grant policy guidelines and the grant application to review what information is required.

My organization has applied for 501(c)(3) status but we have not received the official notification letter from the IRS.  Can I apply for a grant?
No.  The Promise Circle cannot make grants to organizations who have not received official 501(c)(3) status.

My organization has been awarded nonprofit status by the IRS, but it is not a 501(c)(3).  Is my organization eligible to apply?
No. The Promise Circle does not award grants to organizations without 501(c)(3) status.

Is there a budget template for the itemized project budget?
No.  Please create your own itemized project budget in a Word or Excel document.

All applications and supporting documentation become the property of the Promise Circle and will not be returned.

Can I make changes to my application after it has been submitted?
Yes. You can mail minor changes to your application. Please provide specific details as to the changes being submitted and clearly identify your organization name, address and project name.

How can I find out the status of my request?
All applicants will be notified by mail in December regarding their grant status.  Funding will be mailed to grantees in late December.

Can I submit more than one grant request in a year?
No.  Please submit only one grant request per year.

My organization is not required to submit an IRS990 because we have less than $25,000 per year in revenue.  Will my application be disqualified?
No. Please send a letter that states that your organization does not file the IRS990 because it generates income of less than $25,000 annually.  You may send an annual report, audited financial statements, or organizational budget in place of the IRS990.

Does The Promise Circle award grants to organizations based outside the United States?
No. Grants are only awarded to 501(c)(3) organizations in the United States
