The Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation, through its auxiliary The Promise Circle, is pleased to announce a new, ongoing service project. Many hospitals throughout the U.S. have established programs whereby local quilting organizations provide customized quilts to be distributed to the families of children who are patients at their hospitals. These programs are widely appreciated and fill an ongoing need. The JGCF quilting program has already begun. Through the efforts of TPC member Rita Barrett in Austin, Texas over a dozen quilts have already been finished. The first of these quilts will fill a very special purpose. Jeff and Ingrid will be going to Rwanda in December to visit the newly formed health care facilities. They will be delivering much needed supplies and financial support to help the emerging health care system in Rwanda provide for children fighting cancer. Jeff and Ingrid will personally deliver quilts made by TPC members and their friends to the children of Rwanda. Once this first need is filled, the hope is this program will continue to produce quilts that will be equally distributed to the patients at The Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital in Concord, NC, Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, and Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin, TX. TPC is looking for members who may be involved in quilting circles, or who have family members and friends who might be interested in participating in this exciting and fulfilling project. If you would like to participate, or need additional information, please contact TPC members Sharon Murray (wmurray13@austin.rr.com) or Rita Barrett (zteambabies@gmail.com) to let them know of your interest. Thank you for your continued support. To help spread the word, download our quilting flyer. |
