Christmas-lovers from all over the Southeast have gathered at the Southern Christmas Show for 52 consecutive years to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year …
The Park Expo and Conference Center is transformed into an Olde Town filled with charming shops, festive music, crafts galore, delicious food, holiday décor, local wines, Santa, and most importantly – smiling faces of all ages.
This year, Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation (JGCF) is proud to be the featured charity of the Southern Christmas Show’s Benefit Preview Night, 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13! Preview Night is your chance to be one of the first to shop the show. (JGCF founder, four-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Jeff Gordon knows a thing or two about coming in first!)
The best part, a portion of all Preview Night ticket sales will benefit JGCF and directly impact the race to beat childhood cancer by funding research leading to less toxic, more effective treatments. Click here to get your Preview Night tickets.
In addition to your ticket for Preview Night of the show, you can support kids fighting cancer by participating in Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation’s exclusive raffle. There will be all sorts of incredible raffle prizes, and whether you keep them for yourself or give them away as gifts we’re positive they will make you smile this holiday season.
This holiday season, do good for kids fighting cancer by purchasing raffle tickets at the JGCF table on Preview Night to win amazing prizes from Charlotte-area businesses.
Mikayla, Ethen, Hudson
Ethen (pictured with his older sister, Mikayla, and older brother, Hudson) was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma – a cancer that develops from immature nerve cells – at just 13 months old, only a few months after Christmas 2016.
“Your child has cancer.” Those four words thrust Ethen and his family into a terrifying journey that included five rounds of chemotherapy, surgery to remove a large tumor in his abdomen, more high-dose chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, radiation and an antibody treatment – all at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
Ethen just turned 3 this year. Mikayla is now 5 and Hudson is 7 ½. We’re ecstatic to report that Ethen completed his primary treatment protocol the end of April 2018 and currently has no evidence of disease. He began a clinical trial drug in May 2018 to hopefully prevent relapse and will remain on that clinical trial until May 2020. Gifts to organizations like JGCF are vital to funding clinical trials like the one Ethen is on to hopefully prevent relapse.
When we asked Ethen’s parents what they focused on to get through one of the most difficult experiences of their lives, we thought their response was a perfect sentiment for the holiday season: “The joy we get from being together, all five of us, reminds us of what we’re fighting for. We’re fighting to be five of us for years to come.”
Take a break from shopping and enjoy cheerful entertainment to learn tips for cake decorating from our friends at Sweet Spot and more throughout the evening on the Leaf Filter Entertainment Stage.
